Lone Frank

Lone FrankLone Frank (1966) is an award winning journalist and author who uses her PhD. in neurobiology and her background in the biotechnology industry to explore the impact of emerging technologies on our culture, our thinking and our ways of doing business.

In her book Mindfield (or: De vijfde revolutie, Maven 2010) she reveals how the ongoing revolution in brain science is changing how we look at everything from economy and finance to marketing, management and individual self development. What she has termed the fifth revolution gives us radical insight into human nature and allows us to implement the knowledge to create intelligent change. Knowing the brain will be our guideline for innovation and change.

Her latest book, My Beautiful Genome (or Mijn supergenen, Maven 2011), is the first book to delve into the fast developing consumer lead genomics industry. In a very personal exposé – described as “excellent” and “beautiful” by The Financial Times – Lone Frank shows how biology’s parallel to the computer world’s PC revolution is unfolding and reshaping everything from health care to work and personal life. Whereas genetic research and knowledge was at first strictly confined to the lab, consumer genetics is now widely available and anyone can have their genome sequenced. Genetic information is the second wave in digitalization and will soon be pervasive. The first easily accessible consumer products and smart phone apps are already out there and businesses are thinking about how to relate genetic information to their future products.

Lone Frank is a well-known international voice in debates about science, technology and society and widely invited as a public speaker. She has appeared at venues such as TEDx, Harvard Medical School, the Library of Congress, OECD, the Dana Centre, VeerStichting and Focus Conferences. Currently based in Copenhagen Lone Frank writes for a variation of international publications including Trouw, Science, Nature Biotechnology and Newsweek.
