Robert Gaal

Robert GaalRobert Gaal is a Dutch entrepreneur and a hacker since he was nine years old. When ending high school he skipped a formal education in favor of web development and design. Within 3 years he was awarded by BusinessWeek as Europe’s Top Young Entrepreneur.

He is the co-founder of Wakoopa, a startup based in Amsterdam. Wakoopa works with companies such as TNS, Wired Magazine and Google to research the digital lives of todays consumers, through a unique analytics dashboard.

As a consumer and provider of cloud services, he is considered to be one of the few experts on the practical uses of cloud computing. Behind the scenes he has worked on the launch of Foursquare in Amsterdam, its first city outside of the US, and many other applications and projects. He writes a weekly column in the Dutch Financial Times (Het Financieele Dagblad) about young entrepreneurship and the hacking mindset.

Robert speaks passionately about new innovations in technology, such as cloud computing and open-source, and how to create a new way of working based on startup-logic. He presented and moderated on SXSW, The Next Web, and several other conferences.
